Tom Wright is perhaps a modern CS Lewis - very English and a thinker. The very title sounds like it could have been paying tribute to CS Lewis' "Surprised by Joy". This book is the epitome of much serious thought into things so often seen as "hard".

What are we waiting for? What are we going to do in the meantime? Many people have many answers to these two questions.

Surprisingly I see a small piece in Eberle's Systematic Theology where he mentions a small point where he disagrees with Wright. That doesn't mean they agree on all other points but was a reminder to me that the current tendency to belittle those with whom we don't see eye to eye is not even close to being the healthiest way to learn new things.
