I have, this year, been reading a new (for me) version of the Bible. Like the Living Bible, it's not a translation - it's a rendering of the original texts into today's understanding. I have come to see that NO translation conveys the complete meaning of the original texts, so it's not worth arguing over differences between versions. Yes, some are weaker in general than others, but we can hear God at times even in those. If a particular view comes from just one version, be very careful with it.
The passage that prompted my thoughts today, I think, can apply to most of us, most of the time.
But make sure that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-to-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God.
